Experiences
In Freshford, we invite guests to enjoy the ultimate traditional Irish experience at Kavanaghs Pub, a welcoming Irish-style bar at the heart of the community, full of authentic culture and tradition.

Your visit begins with an introduction to the history and rules of hurling. Once you are familiar with the basics, we take you to the local hurling field to try the sport for yourself. Our expert coaches guide you through essential skills, including the ground stroke, hand pass, solo run, and hand strike, before giving you the exciting opportunity to take a shot at the goalposts.

The hurling presentation takes place in the intense environment of a team’s dressing room, where the energy of match day can almost be felt. From passionate team talks to the sweat and tears that mark the highs and lows of the game, the dressing room is a place of both agony and ecstasy — an unforgettable introduction to the spirit of hurling.

Once you are familiar with the basics of the sport, we lead you onto the ‘field of dreams’ to try your hand at hurling. Every guest has the chance to practice essential skills and take a shot at the goalposts, giving you the thrill of scoring like the legendary Kilkenny Cats. This is a truly memorable experience that will stay with you long after the day is over.
